AB 1826 is mandatory recycling of organic waste to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere. Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions resulting from the decomposition of organic wastes in landfills have been identified as a significant source of emissions contributing to global climate change. Reducing the amount of organic materials sent to landfills and increasing the production of compost and mulch is the goal. As of September 2020, businesses and multi-family complexes will be required to recycle their organic waste if they generate 2 cubic yards of commercial solid waste per week or more. City of Manteca provides orange carts/bins for commercial food-waste and green carts/bins for commercial green-waste. Commercial Green Waste Services

The City of Manteca provides commercial green waste services with green waste bins ranging in size from 2 cubic yards to 6 cubic yards. We can arrange pick up service once a week. This is done at NO CHARGE to the business operator, provided that the green waste remains clean and free of contamination. Bins that are continuously contaminated with unacceptable items are subject to removal.

The Following Items Are Acceptable In Green Waste Bins

• Leaves
• Grass Clippings
• Prunings
• Small Tree Branches
• Small Pieces of Untreated and Unpainted Wood
• Particle Board
• Weeds
• Flowers

The Following Items Are Not Acceptable In Green Waste Bins:

• Large Tree Limbs
• Plastic Pits
• Concrete
• Palm Trees
• Dirt
• Treated Lumber
• Dirt, Sand, and Rocks
• Recyclables
• Animal Waste (place in garbage)

Commercial Food Waste Services

The City of Manteca provides commercial food waste services with orange waste bins ranging from a 96 gallon cart or a 2 cubic yard bin.

The Following Items Are Acceptable In Orange Waste Bins

• All Fruits and Vegetables (Pits and Shells Too)
• Coffee Grounds and Paper Filters
• Dairy Products
• Eggshells and Eggs
• Leftovers and Spoiled Food
• Meat (Including Bones)
• Seafood (Including Shellfish)

Carts/Bins that are continuously contaminated with unacceptable items are subject to removal.

Construction Waste

The City of Manteca can provide 40 cubic yard bins for:

• Construction Lumber
• Roofing Materials
• Pallets
• Wood Waste
• Drywall
• And All Other Construction/Demolition Debris

These bins are provided and are available on an "On-call" basis, daily basis, weekly basis or whatever your needs may be.
