All cardboard must be broken down or flattened prior to recycling. There are multiple options to recycle corrugated cardboard for residents. Materials can be placed in the blue recycling cart for regularly scheduled curbside collection. It can also be flattened, bundled, and placed alongside the recycling cart on your normal pickup day.

Additionally, the Solid Waste Division provides a bin at 210 E. Wetmore St., free of charge, during the following hours: Monday - Friday from 5:00 a.m. - 12:30p.m. The blue recycling bin is located in the parking lot on the east side of the office building and please be prepared to offload your own items. 

Christmas trees are normally picked up for free beginning the first week of January.

This year, collection will be January 5, 2026 - January 16, 2026. Please remove ornaments and lights from your tree before placing it in the gutter for pick up. Please do not place your tree in a plastic bag. Both standard and flocked trees are accepted, though either type must be real (no artificial trees are accepted). Trees are picked up on your service day and must be placed prior to 5:00 a.m. They are taken to the landfill, chipped and used as alternative daily cover.

The Solid Waste Division located at 210 E. Wetmore St. will take your old TV's and computer monitors, free of charge during the following hours: Monday - Friday from 5:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. There is a brown bin in the parking lot on the east side of office building where you can place your electronic waste. The back of the bin is open for easy drop off. Please be prepared to offload your own items.

The City of Manteca cannot be held responsible for any information taken from devices. It is highly suggested to remove all personal information prior to recycling.

 You are allowed 3 "stickers" per calendar year, for free, to place on a 32-gallon size bag. These bags are placed next to your garbage cart on your collection day. Please visit the Solid Waste Division or Finance Department to request the stickers. Please note- you must be an account holder at the residence to request and receive the stickers.

The Household Hazardous Waste Facility is located at 7850 R.A. Bridgeford Street, Stockton, CA 95206 Open Thursday-Sunday, 9:00am-3:00pm (209) 468-3066

15 gallon (125 lbs) waste limit per car, per day. Don’t mix chemicals. Place chemicals in sealed containers. Transport in trunk or in a bed of a truck and pack to avoid spilling.

Disposal is FREE for all San Joaquin County residents. No out-of-county waste accepted. Small businesses may dispose of waste at the facility for a fee; call first to schedule an appointment, 800-207-8222.

No explosives, radioactive materials, medical waste, sewage, solar panels, controlled substances, ammunitions, refrigerating units, gas powered tools, air conditioning units, tires, large appliances, and large compressed gas cylinders are accepted at the Hazardous Waste Facility. 

Every other year, the City of Manteca Solid Waste Division hosts a Household hazardous Waste Collection Event in collaboration with San Joaquin County. The next event is scheduled for 2027. Please check back for more information about the date and time.

The Mattress Recycling Council’s Bye Bye Mattress program recycles more than 1.5 million mattresses each year in California. As a participating collection site, we accept mattresses and box springs for free at the Solid Waste Division, located at 210 E. Wetmore St. during the following hours of operation: 5:00 am - 12:30 pm, Monday - Friday. There is a white bin located in the parking lot in the east side of the office building. Please be prepared to offload your own items.

Thanks to this program, these units are diverted from landfills and used to make other useful products such as carpet padding, insulation, filters and mulch. The program also helps our community combat illegal dumping.

Each year, the Solid Waste Division will hold an art contest for grades K-8. Art will be on display and voting is open to all members of the community. Contest winners will have their art featured on the side of a garbage truck, in our annual calendar, and the student will be recognized at a City Council meeting! This program helps bring awareness to recycling and environmental conservation. Below is our cover for the first annual Solid Waste Recycling Calendar released for 2026.

School recycling presentations are available to Elementary Schools located in the City of Manteca. We can present with Michael Recycle or Feed Freddy and have them interact with the students.

If you have used medical injectable needles that you need to dispose of and you are a Manteca resident, you can bring them to the Senior Center at 295 Cherry Ln. during regular business hours. All needles must be contained in a 1qt. Red Sharps Disposal Container. The Senior Center Staff will give you a new container when you drop off your current one for disposal (when available).

All sharps containers are shipped to a facility where they are ground up and recycled into road base. Please do not put them in your trash. It is illegal and unsafe.

Used motor oil is picked up curbside in Manteca every week, along with your trash. Place the City provided container with next to your cart on your normal collection dat. It will be picked up and replaced with an empty one.

You can also take your used motor oil to any of the locations listed in the recycling guide. It’s a good idea to call first, just to make sure they have room. Many of these locations will also take your used oil filters.
