Safe drinking water is a carefully manufactured product. It is collected, treated, tested, and delivered to your home and/or business by the City of Manteca. The City of Manteca has been delivering water to the public since 1917. Since then, we have constructed a total of 31 wells for domestic use. The water system currently consists of 17 groundwater wells. Other wells have been taken out of service due to their old age and shallow depths. The water that is pumped from the ground is pushed through approximately 330 miles of pipeline located underneath City streets. We distribute about 4.5 Billion Gallons of water annually, a large portion of this water is surface water from South San Joaquin Irrigation District's water treatment plant and the balance is supplied by City groundwater wells.

Water Rate Study

The City of Manteca has prepared a Water Rate Study, which provides the written basis for the proposed Monthly Water Rate updates. The proposed water rate updates are designed to ensure that the revenue collected from the water rates are sufficient to cover, but does not exceed, the City's costs of providing water services to its customers.

The City's cost of providing water services were proportionately allocated to each customer class based on the costs of serving that customer class. The basis upon which the proposed water rates were calculated is set forth, in further detail, in the Water Rate Study, which can be found below and is available in the Engineering Department located at 1001 W. Center St., Suite E, Manteca, CA 95337.

Water Capacity Fee Study

The City of Manteca has prepared a Water Capacity Fee Study, which provides the basis for charges to new development for connection to the water system.
