Downtown District Formation Update

The City of Manteca contracted with New City America, a California based company who specializes in business district development,  to assist us in the process of forming a Downtown Manteca Community Benefits District (DMCBD). In this model, property owners support the Downtown Manteca Community Benefit District by taxing themselves. The collected assessments are used to begin providing new services beyond what the City of Manteca is currently providing to the District. 

On the 2^nd of April city Council passed a resolution to move forward with the voting process 5-0 in a unanimous vote.  Ballots were compiled and sent to the City Clerk’s Office who mailed them out on 4/11/24.   A public hearing to assess the vote results was held on June 4, 2024. The district was approved.

The Downtown Manteca Community Benefit District Governing Committee had its initial meeting on August 1, 2024 at the Deaf Puppy Comedy Club.  17 People were in attendance. Interim Board Officers were selected and a new name was chosen, the Downtown Manteca Improvement Association.  A link to the new organization's website will be linked here when it becomes available.
